Installation

Vinyl tile is a multi-layer material that offers homeowners several benefits, including affordability, aesthetic beauty, and durability. It is a lightweight way to create a tile-like backsplash in your kitchen or bathroom.

1. Surfaces Requirement

Proper surface preparation is essential for a successful project.

Note: Failure to follow recommended surface preparation instructions may void the warranty.

    2. Recommended Tools

    • Safety gloves
    • Metal scale (metal straight edge ruler) or a rigid straight ruler
    • Heavy duty scissors or utility knife
    • Pencil, chalks or other nonpermanent marker
    • Level
    • Latex or oil-based primer (if necessary)
    • Caulk gun and caulk (optional)

    3. Installation

1). Thoroughly clean the surface to remove dirt and grease. Allow enough time for the surface to dry completely.
2). Use a pencil or chalk to measure and mark guidelines to the portion where the first tile will be applied to.
3). Using a ruler and utility knife, cut the tile to desired shape/size. Please ensure to cut the overlapping tabs and grout line prior to installing if desired.
4). Peel off back of the tile without touching the adhesive surface, then install. Press firmly (including the edges) to prevent lifting.
5). Remove the front plastic film.
6). Starting second tile, overlap the grout line of the edges during installation, press firmly on overlapped grout lines for best results.

    4. Removal

    • Remove with a blow dryer and warm up each peel and stick tile long enough to soften the adhesive and pull softly starting with the corners.
    • Remove with little to no damage to the wall depending on the surface the tiles were installed on.

    5. Caution

    • For gas range without a back control panel or metal plate, please reserve 20 inches of free space between the stove and the vinyl tiles to avoid direct expose to open flames.
    • For small appliance(s) (Toasters, Counter Ovens etc.), please allow 3-5 inches of free space between the tiles and appliance(s).
    • DO NOT touch the adhesive backing with bare hands.
    • DO NOT use abrasive cleaning products to clean tile surfaces.
    • Recommended temperature of the walls are at 70 degrees F for the tiles to stick properly.
    • For freshly painted walls, please allow 3-4 weeks before installing the tiles.
    • NOT intended for use in Showers or Bath Tubs.

    6. Tips and Techniques

If you do not intend to prepare, sand and prime the surface, an additional adhesive should be used. We recommend a high-quality polyurethane construction adhesive be applied to the back of each tile in these cases.
